Join Mat Su Central School on a Lunar Quest at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai.
The Center offers students the next best thing to actual space flight with a Mission Control room designed after NASA Johnson Space Center.
The simulated environment is created with computer technology, real science data & hands-on activities. Students will take turns working in the Space Station and Mission Control, immersing themselves in the space like surroundings.
The curriculum for this activity is designed for grades 5th - 6th. Preference will be given to students in these grade levels when signing-up for this field trip.
Minimum requirements:
In order to be eligible to attend this field trip, your student must write a short paragraph about what they hope to learn and what skills they will bring to the team. Students should be at or above a 5th/ 6th grade reading and writing level.

Itinerary is as follows:
March 5
Depart MSCS @ 10am
Arrive at the Challenger Center @ 3pm
Rocketry Activity 4 - 6:30pm
Dinner at 6:30pm
Lights out in the dorms at 9pm
March 6
Breakfast at 8am
Expedition to Mars activity 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Depart the Center at 12:00 pm
Arrive back at MSCS by 5 pm
Cost: TBD includes classes, materials, transportation, lodging and meals (cost will be deducted from the student allotment).
Chaperones: Parent ticket cost TBD.
