MCS Alaska Railroad & Glacier Quest

Join Mat-Su Central School on an amazing trip to Prince William Sound, Whittier! Ride the rails through breathtaking scenery & the longest multi-use tunnel in the U.S. Then, cruise into Blackstone Bay, home to seven glaciers and Yosemite-scale waterfalls. Watch for playful sea otters, harbor seals, kittiwakes, bears, whales or mountain goats. The M/V Glacier Quest is a luxury catamaran that will whisk us off on an adventure in comfort with large picture windows and heated cabin. The cruise includes a complimentary hot lunch, narration by U.S. Forest Service Ranger & a no sea sickness guarantee.

Itinerary: September 12th

9:00 AM - Check-in at AK Railroad Depot in Anchorage (411 West 1st Avenue, Anchorage)

9:45 AM - Depart Anchorage on the AK Railroad

12:05 PM - Arrive in Whittier

12:20 PM - Check-in at Phillips 26 Glacier Cruise

12:45 PM - Boarding the cruise

1:00 PM - Depart on our excursion

4:45 PM - Return to Whittier

5:00 PM - Free time to explore Whittier (Students traveling without parents will join MSC staff chaperones for a early dinner at the local restaurant) 

6:25 PM - Check-in at AK Railroad

6:45 PM - Depart Whittier on the AK Railroad

9:15 PM- Return to Anchorage

Lunch is on us! Choose one of the following meal options:

• Wild Alaskan Smoked Salmon Chowder and a fresh Julienne Vegetable Salad.

• Hearty Vegetable Chili and a fresh Julienne Vegetable Salad.

• Kids meal (Age 2-11) Choose from the above options or choose our all beef hot dog, chips, and a fruit cup.

Note: The popular Wild Alaska Smoked Salmon Chowder will be served unless another option is requested at booking. Click here to view the ingredient list for the meals. If we do not have a meal that meets your special circumstances, you are welcome to bring your own food.

Students ages 2- 11, cost: $159.55 (this price will be automatically deducted from the student(s) allotment)

Students ages 12- 18, cost: $182.55(this price will be automatically deducted from the student(s) allotment)

Adult cost: $278.95  Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend! The cost of one parent/ guardian ticket can be automatically deducted from the student allotment. Additional adults must pay by credit card through "School Pay". A payment link will be sent directly to your email address.

Please bring the permission slip with you on the day of the event.

Please note, once you commit to attending a field trip, the cost of the trip will be deducted from your student allotment. Field trip costs are refundable until 7 days before the event. Please contact us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend an event/ field trip and we will make every effort to fill your spot with another student and refund your student account. Thank you!
