Mat-Su Central Families,

At the core of the vision and mission of our school are the partnerships we share that foster the joy and rewards of lifelong learning.  As your principal, I believe that one of my most important jobs is to find the right people who have the skills and disposition to make our program better.  Additionally, effective leaders recognize the right time when stepping aside allows for the growth and transformation of others.  Now is that time.

For the past 12 years it has been my honor serving the Mat-Su Central community.  Next year, the torch of leadership will be transferred to Stacey McIntosh, our assistant principal for the past two years.  We were fortunate to hire her seven years ago as an elementary advisor.  Stacey was selected by our parent driven Academic Advisory Council this week following an application and interview process that included candidates from in and out of our district.

This is a historical announcement.   Since our school was founded in 1972, Stacey will be our first school leader who worked as an advisor in our program and the first female principal the school has ever had at the helm.

Stacey began her educational journey teaching in Hooper Bay with her college sweetheart, Brian.  For the past 18 years she has taught and coached in the Mat-Su while raising her children, Rylee and Bridger.

Stacey will be a passionate advocate for our kids, families and staff.  She has the capacity, experience, and vision to lead the Mat-Su Central community into the future.  Please join me in welcoming Ms. McIntosh!

I wish you all a great spring break.

Honored to be your principal,

John Brown
