Class Description

Explore traditional Alaska Native medicines and plant harvests. Plants are essential to holistic health and provide far more than just nutrition. Harvesting plants encourages wellness through physical activity, as well as spiritual and cultural connections. During the workshop, students  learn to create healing salves, food recipes and teas, using plants collected throughout the summer. We will have 4 lessons culminating in a field trip to the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Lessons will introduce medicinal and nutritional uses for Alaskan plants and wild food sources.
