Class Description

Students will learn to integrate healthy living into their daily lives. Through simple and fun strategies, students develop increased self-esteem, creativity, relaxation, emotional awareness, and self-control. We will continue to build on Cloud Spotting skills, and add some Rubik’s Cube lessons, healthy eating, gratitude practices, and movement activities to bring mindfulness into all aspects of life.

Specific mindfulness activities may include some of the following tools:
· Mindful Games Activity Cards (you can find these on Amazon)
· Calm Classroom- one of the largest providers of school-wide mindfulness and trauma-sensitive techniques.
· MindYeti (Youtube channel provides many samples of the videos)- Blog article on "What is Mindfulness, Anyway?"

A primary tool we'll be using is eM-Flo™ , which stands for Emotional Flossing™. The basic technique is to identify an emotion or sensation, rate the level of intensity, do a mindful strategy, and recheck the emotion or sensation. An example is when we go around the building for cloudspotting, students end up running. When we return to the classroom, we pay attention to heartbeat, breathing rate, or heat sensations in the body and pay attention as they return to normal.

This class is ideal for small group socializing. Do you want better grades, to be a better athlete, learn to pay attention to your body, or to get along better with people? Then come join the fun!
