Class Description
This course is designed to give students extra time and space to focus on their schoolwork in a supportive setting. It’s not a traditional class with direct instruction or a one-on-one tutoring program. Instead, it functions more like a study hall, where students work independently on their assignments. A teacher may stop in from time to time to offer guidance, encouragement, or check on progress, but the primary focus is on student responsibility and self-advocacy.
Students will have the opportunity to build study habits, manage their time, and strengthen academic skills while staying on top of current coursework. Communication between home and school will be encouraged to help students stay supported.
Students may drop in as needed, but please note that MCS is not a drop-off program. Most students attend Academic Strategies for a morning or afternoon block between on-site classes. Students may also earn elective credit by establishing a consistent schedule and attending regularly. Talk with your advisor to find a plan that works best for your family.
