Purchase Yourself

With the unprecedented need for devices and issues surrounding logistics for ordering devices for education (worldwide), we also want to support families’ needs in procuring devices. To this end, MSC supports the purchase of new computers with your own funds and for you to be reimbursed.

Please see these guidelines for more information on how to do this.

Device Guidelines

Note: Always check with your advisor first. Complete the form for pre-approval here.

As with all non-consumables, devices must be tagged as property of the MSBSD in order to be reimbursable, and will either need to be returned or bought out (see depreciation schedule below) if you leave Mat-Su Central. The Accounting department will help with this process.

Please get pre-approval with your advisor before purchasing any device.

Suggested Device Guidelines

  • any Mac under $1,300 - suggested MacBook Air
  • any iPad under $500 - suggested iPad 7th Gen
  • any PC under $1,000
  • any Chromebook - suggest at least 32gb
  • any Printer under $300

*If any device you believe you need to have for educational purposes is above these costs, you will need both advisor and administrative/technology approval. Your advisor will help with this. You will also need to provide accompanying reasoning for why the requested device is needed to support your child’s learning plan.

*MSC staff cannot support personally bought devices at the same level (if at all) that we can shelf stock items.
