Frequently Asked Questions

In an effort to continue to support  students and families who are new to Mat-Su Central in the 2020-21 school year, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help you make the most informed decision about your child's education. For the most complete and up to date information, please read the list of FAQs here.

I want to enroll my child after September 30; what should I do?

  • Speak to your child’s current school counselor or principal about options.  All of the district neighborhood schools are offering both in school and remote learning opportunities.
  • New families are required to watch the Mat-Su Central 101 and complete the ILP Scheduler @ matsucentral.org.  Once complete, a scheduling secretary will contact you for an ILP appointment.

What’s an ILP?

  • ILP stands for Individualized Learning Plan which is the cornerstone of personalized learning.
  • The ILP is created during a collaborative conference with parents, students, and advisory teacher.
  • Each student at Mat-Su Central has an ILP that is unique to them, focusing on their strengths, weaknesses, and learning style.
  • New enrollees after September 1 are being provided books or a digital bundle (due to record enrollment numbers).

What will happen to my child’s grades at the school they are currently enrolled in?

  • Depends on the school – some schools give a WD (Withdraw) or a NC (No Credit).
  • Mat Su Central does NOT “pick up” where a student left off in their previous course.  For the most part, the student is starting over with their courses.
