Let's hit the water with Onward and Upward! Over two action-packed mornings, you’ll master canoe skills, play games, and work as a team to navigate like a pro.
The American Canoe Association Level 1 Skills Course is designed as a short program emphasizing safety, enjoyment and skill acquisition for students ages 13-18. Onward & Upward is a non-profit organization accredited through the Association of Experiential Education. Along with canoe specific skills students will also practice effective communication, group collaboration and peer support through a variety of team building games and activities.

Location:
Each day the course will start and end at Onward & Upward headquartres (the blue dome) located off the Palmer-Wasilla Hwy at 1705 N Ranch Rd. Students will be transported via Onward & Upward vans and instructors to near by lakes. On water instruction will take place at Finger Lake and Cottonwood Lake.
Equipment:
Onward & Upward will provide snacks and all necessary canoe equipment including personal floation devices (lifejackets). Students should bring a water bottle, dress in synthetic athletic (no cotton) clothing and be prepared to be outside rain or shine. Please bring additional warm layers, rain gear and rubber boots (this gear is also available upon request).
