Class Description

The 3–5 English Language Arts (ELA) class is a content-rich, 90-minute block designed to guide students from foundational literacy toward independent, critical thinking. Students will engage in reading, writing, speaking, and language practice that builds both academic skills and confidence.

In grades 3–5, learners move beyond basic comprehension to deeper analysis of texts. Writing instruction emphasizes not only sentences, but also structure, purpose, and audience, helping students craft thoughtful, well-organized pieces. Throughout the course, collaboration and communication will be central, equipping students for both academic and social success.

A key component of the class will be novel study. Students are expected to bring their novel to each session, as active reading and discussion will form the foundation of our learning together.
