Class Description
Please note: Part of this class requires students to work at-home on a science fair project. Projects will be proudly displayed at the MCS Elementary Science Fair. To fully understand the class topics and requirements, please review the SYLLABUS before requesting enrollment.
Have you ever wondered things like - Why do some volcanoes explode? Or, how are rocks created? 🤔. In Mystery Science: The Birth of Rocks! students will explore questions just like these - and many more! Join Mrs. Chenelle Zoerb for an engaging mix of video and hands-on activities that investigate volcanic eruptions, the rock cycle, and how weathering and erosion affect the Earth's landscapes.
Activities include mapping the ring of fire, replicating the rock cycle, making (and erupting) salt-dough volcanoes, visiting the Anchorage Museum of Science and Nature … and more! We will also learn about the scientific method and complete science fair projects!
Note on Science Fair Participation: Experiments and boards will be completed primarily at home, but on-campus open work sessions will be available. Projects will be displayed around the school! Learn more in the SYLLABUS .
