Families of Mat-Su Central,

Welcome to a new school year! As always, check out our full calendar here, and keep an eye on the website for the most up to date information.

New & Returning Enrollees in 2026-27:

  • Do you know a family interested in attending MCS this year? Encourage them to register on Parent Vue. As of today, we have welcomed over 800 new students, so our staff is working hard to get everyone scheduled for ILP meetings, but it is taking some time.
  • If you are a returning family and have not had your ILP, please reach out directly to your advisor to schedule an appointment. Thank you for your patience, and remember, your student does not need to wait for an ILP meeting to begin learning at home!

On-Site Hybrid Learning Questions

We know families have had questions about this year’s Hybrid Learning opportunities. Here are some important clarifications:

  • How do I see my student’s Hybrid classes?
    • Hybrid classes should now be populated in ParentVUE. To view your student’s schedule: First, select "Class Schedule." Then, select the appropriate semester.
    • For course descriptions, schedules, and other details, visit our Hybrid Offerings page. For questions related to a specific course, feel free to reach out directly to the relevant teacher.
  • What if we no longer want a class?
    • If your student is enrolled in a Hybrid class that you no longer wish to attend, please complete our Hybrid Class Drop Form. Submitting the form helps us keep our rosters accurate and may open a spot for another student.
  • Can we still request Hybrid classes?
    • Yes! If you have not yet requested classes, or would like to explore additional options, there is still time to participate. An regularly updated list of available Hybrid offerings and class request form is available HERE!
  • Anything I need to know about the first day of classes?
    • Many classes begin this week, but be sure to check your student’s schedule to confirm the start date for each specific course.
    • All K–8 students must be supervised by a parent or guardian while in the building when they are not in class, including while using the library. Please do not drop students off early or pick them up late.
    • High school students may remain in the building without direct supervision, provided they are able to manage themselves appropriately and follow school expectations.

For questions about the Hybrid course request process: Contact Kristina Magner, Mat-Su Hybrid Counselor.

Are there other ways to connect?

  • Absolutely! We’re continuing to monitor family interest and adjust opportunities where we can.
  • Make sure to check out the Clubs, Events, and Field Trips page for other great opportunities, including Battle of the Books, Kindergarten and Middle School Clubs, and more.
  • High School students are encouraged to attend the Educational Travel Meeting on September 1 to gain more info on our spring trip to Southern Italy.

Allotment and Accounting Updates

  • If your student participates in a school sport this year, you may use a portion of their allotment to cover associated athletic fees. To do so, use the SchoolPay link in your ParentVUE account to pay the athletic fee, then submit your receipt for reimbursement.
  • Check out the Allotment Support page for helpful information, including FAQ and examples of parent reimbursements.

Feedback: MCS thrives thanks to the creative insights from home educators. If you have any ideas for how we can improve our program, please share with us here.

Honored to partner with you,
