Families of Mat-Su Central,

We hope this finds you well and savoring the fleeting days of our Alaskan autumn! As always, check out our full calendar and website for the most up to date information, including details about the Fall Festival on October 31.

Grade Report:

Some of you may have received an auto-generated email from MSBSD regarding Q1 grades. Please disregard this message, as grading at Mat-Su Central operates on a different timeline. S1 grades are due on December 18 unless otherwise indicated by your advisor or teacher.

New Enrollees in 2025-26:

Did you know MCS has enrolled nearly 1000 new students this year? In an effort to support more families, those who enroll by October 24 will now receive a full allotment. The enrollment form is live on the front page of our website.

Picture Day

Our next picture day on November 14 is now available for sign up. This is also a great opportunity to get a student ID even if a student does not order pictures. Check out the events page on the website for more information.

Shed Raffle

Mr. Rucker and his construction class students have recently completed three amazing sheds. One will be used to house MCS’s tractor, and the other two will be up for raffle. Support our CTE program and get a chance to win a brand-new shed at an amazing price. Raffle tickets are $40 — more details coming soon!

On-Site Hybrid Learning Academy

  • Sign-ups for Semester 2 classes are now open!
    • For a list of classes that are open to new student requests, visit our Offerings page. If you have questions about a specific class, please contact your teacher or advisor directly.
  • Attendance
    • Since these courses operate on a condensed schedule, attendance is very important. If your student misses multiple classes, the teacher may give his/her spot to another student on the waitlist.
  • Supervision
    • K-8 students may NOT be in the building unless they are supervised (in class with a teacher or outside of class with a parent/guardian).
    • HS students may be in the building unsupervised provided they are not a distraction to other students/families.
  • Parking
    • To help traffic flow smoothly, please reserve the circle drive in front of the building for immediate drop-offs and pick-ups only. When vehicles wait in this area, it causes backups that prevent others from entering the parking lot.
    • We have a limited number of handicap parking spaces, so please reserve those spots for families who need them.
  • Remember that Mat-Su Central is not a traditional school/building, so all on-site participation is optional. Parents (home educators) are expected to partner with MCS staff to make sure kids are safe and well cared for. We thrive thanks to this unique partnership, and we want to keep it that way! (full list of FAQs is available here)

From the Accounting Department

  • In most cases, families should receive their student device (laptop or iPad) directly from Mat-Su Central. This ensures the device is properly tagged as MSBSD property and that allotment purchases are processed without delays. During COVID, families were temporarily allowed to purchase devices independently due to limited inventory—but that exception is now uncommon. If your family is considering buying a device on your own, please connect first with your advisor or our technology specialist, Miguel, to confirm the best approach. Thank you for helping us keep this process smooth and consistent for everyone.
  • Reimbursements are currently taking about three weeks to complete. We appreciate your patience as our team works hard to process the large volume of submissions.
  • Finally, if you haven’t already, check out our Allotment FAQ, which includes answers to common questions—including those about preschool expenses.
